     Mu Alpha Theta is a national high school and junior college math honor society. It is "an organization dedicated to promoting scholarships in mathematics and establishing math as an integral part of high school and junior college education." The Greek letter Mu stands for "m," Alpha stands for "a," and Theta stands for "th."

     Membership in Mu Alpha Theta is offered to students in grades 9-12 who have an average of 3.25 in their math courses, have completed Algebra 1 and Geometry. Members shall demonstrate their ability to work with others and shall possess the qualities of industry, initiative, and reliability. Seniors will wear honor cords at graduation and their membership in MAO is transferable to any junior college with an active chapter in MAO.
