Subjects Taught
AP Chemistry, Science - Chemistry

I graduated from AHS in 1990 and received my Bachelor's degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in 1994 with a Biology major and chemistry minior. I then received my Master's degree in Education in 1997 with a double major in Chemistry and Biology. In 2010 I became a National Board Certified Teacher. I was a 2007 state finalist for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.

I am entering my 19th year of teaching. I taught 8th grade science at Albertville Middle School for 12 years, where I was also the Junior Civitan advisor and Robotics Team coach. I took a leave of absence in 2009 and worked for NASA as the NASA Explorer School Coordinator for Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville and Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. I was responsible for schools in seven states and really enjoyed the chance to travel and visit other schools. I returned to teaching in 2010 and moved to the high school where I now teach Pre-AP Chemistry and General Chemistry and I'm the Junior Civitan advisor and co-advisor for NJHS.
